The Battery Charging Case is a battery-powered, dock, speaker, and charging system designed for use with smartphones, and mounting on the handlebars of a bicycle or an included arm-band. Intent of the Battery Charging Case system is to enable cyclists to enjoy music, and hands-free cellphone communications, without having to worry that the charge in the phone's battery will be exhausted, as it can now be easily recharged right within the Battery Charging Case.

The Battery Charging Case would present smartphone users with a compact, battery-powered and battery charging, speaker-equipped docking station for their smartphone – a system that could be mounted on the handlebars of a bicycle (mounting hardware included), or worn on the upper arm with an included arm-band. As conceived, the Battery Charging Case would measure 5 ½ inches in height by 2 inches in width. The Charging Case would feature a tough and durable, impact- and scratch-resistant molded thermoplastic exterior casing, and would be equipped with both a mini-USB charging port and a long- life, slim-profile, rechargeable lithium-ion battery for use in powering the speakers and recharging one's smartphone. The Battery Charging Case will be form-fitting, suitable for use with iPhones, Galaxies, and other popular smartphones using the Apple, Android, Google, or Microsoft operating systems. Far more than simply a protective case and handy holder, the Battery Charging Case will also act as an extended-duration backup power system for a smartphone, and as a stereo docking system. Two compact slide-out speakers, located on either end of the case lengthwise, will slide out near the top and bottom of the phone when in use. As such, the Battery Charging Case will deliver premium-quality audio output for MP3 files, iTunes files, or for hands- free cellphone communications. When used on a bicycle via the handlebar- mount, the Battery Charging Case can be used for listening to music – without earphones – or for hands-free cellphone communication, or as a bike-mounted GPS unit. And should the battery-charge of the user's smartphone become exhausted, the battery in the Battery Charging Case will connect to the phone through the mini-USB port, to charge the phone's battery. To facilitate use, a phone adapter charging cord would be located in the bottom of the Battery Charging Case. In addition, this case would be designed to hold the smartphone comfortably and securely in either a horizontal or vertical alignment on either the bike handles or the Velcro-fastening arm-band. The Battery Charging Case would be produced in a wide variety of color and pattern- schemes to appeal variously to the widest spectrum of active consumers: boys and girls, adolescents and young adults, and men and women. With the Battery Charging Case using speakers to amplify and transmit sound, the cyclist, who need not wear earbuds or the like, will still be capable of hearing a car-horn, a fast-approaching vehicle, and other sounds of warning.
