File Retriever

A Computerized, Automated Office System

The File Retriever is a computerized, automated office system for the rapid electronic tracking, locating, and retrieving of paper files. The File Retriever would save time and labor costs for any commercial or institutional operation that relies on paper files, while efficiently locating and retrieving files at the press of a button or the click of a cursor.

Features & Benefits

Put simply, the File Retriever is an intelligent, automated, electro-mechanical system for the storage, retrieval, and returning of paper files in business and institutional offices. The File Retriever system would permit paper files to be stored in any order or sequence, yet function to locate and retrieve any given file within moments, at the press of a button on the File Retriever's touchscreen control panel or the click of a computer-screen cursor. The File Retriever could be designed and configured in a variety of shapes, sizes, and capacities to suit the needs of individual users. Within the File Retriever system, each individual paper file-folder in the will be equipped with a strip label bearing an individual person's identification number. This label, and the individual's full name, address, and an identification number will be entered into the File Retriever database in the office computer system. The individual file labels will be equipped with unique RFID tags, such that – once the file label has been entered and logged into the system – merely highlighting or selecting that file on the File Retriever database screen will activate an immediate electronic search for that label, and hence that file. Once the file is located within the File Retriever system, the electro-mechanical aspect of the system takes over, and a series of linked, motorized servo-mechanisms functions to physically grasp and extract the file, and shunt it to a central depository, drawer, or bin where it can be picked up by office staff for delivery. The mechanical aspect of the system would be roughly analogous to such familiar systems as coin-operated vending machines or industrial sorters. Because the File Retriever would locate and retrieve files much more quickly than a human file-clerk, this automated system would increase office efficiency, resulting in better service for patients, customers, and clients.
