My Kart is a specially designed shopping cart for use in grocery stores and similar retail establishments, developed expressly for personal use. The design intent of My Kart is to provide consumers a readily accessible shopping cart that would afford a convenient means of transporting groceries and other goods accumulated on a shopping excursions, both inside the store and from the car to the home. My Kart would also provide consumers a sanitary alternative to sharing shopping carts between customers.

Simply stated, My Kart is a specially designed shopping cart configured expressly for personal use. Designed to collapse flat and easily store in a vehicle trunk between shopping excursions, My Kart would be similar in size to a traditional grocery store shopping cart, yet would boast a variety of features that would readily enhance its use. As with traditional shopping carts,My Kart could boast a sturdy aluminum framework and wire basket and storage tray. Connected to My Kart’s rear leg assembly would be the unit’s ergonomically designed handle bar, complete with a cup- holder, with which the user would easily maneuver the cart. The basket, base storage tray and support framework of My Kart would be connected together via a series of hinge mechanisms that enable the user to fold the cart flat for convenient storage within a vehicle trunk. This could be achieved by incorporating a simple release mechanism into the design of the cart's extended handle bar assembly. In addition to the unique collapsible component of the lightweight My Kart, this innovative shopping cart would rest atop four, heavy duty wheeled casters that facilitate freedom of movement across smooth floor surfaces and outdoor terrain alike. Importantly, integrated foot-activated brakes would be incorporated into the rear wheels of the cart, thus enabling the user to “park” the cart when unloading or loading goods, or when on uneven or hilly surface areas. Similar to traditional shopping carts, My Kart would also feature a child's seat for sized toddlers and young children. Stored in a vehicle trunk, My Kart could be easily accessed and fully assembled in a manner of seconds, thus ensuring a cart was on hand at all times.
