The Self-Cleaning Vacuum Cleaner ...

is far easier to use, empty, and maintain than a conventional vacuum.

DES PLAINES, IL—With conventional household vacuum cleaners one has to use expensive vacuum cleaner bags or manually clean a messy filter. The Self-Cleaning Vacuum Cleaner solves these problems by using only grocery bags or no bags at all and automatically cleaning the filter. The Self-Cleaning Vacuum Cleaner which one can use for household and light commercial use has a reverse air-flow feature that enables one to not only discharge the collected dust and dirt after vacuuming, but also to clean the filter in a convenient hands-free manner.

Although similar in appearance and general cleaning capacity to premium-quality upright vacuums, the Self-Cleaning Vacuum Cleaner is different in three ways. First, the reversible air-flow enables one to empty the vacuum and clean the air-filter with the turn of a knob or flip of a lever. Second, the special dirt capture box in the reverse mode collects all of the vacuumed dust and dirt for easy disposal. Third, one can use ordinary plastic grocery bags, not expensive vacuum cleaner bags, as a liner for the dirt capture box. One may use the plastic bags or go “bag-free”, emptying the inner box upon completion and cleaning the filter. Televised test marketing has been completed indicating an exceptional consumer interest in the Self- Cleaning Vacuum Cleaner.

The Patent Pending Self-Cleaning Vacuum Cleaner was invented by Raymond Pawelko of Des Plaines, IL who received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Raymond said that the Self-Cleaning Vacuum Cleaner uses a series of mechanically controlled air-valves which act in concert to redirect the air-flow such that any dust and dirt adhering to the air-filter is lifted and deposited in the dirt capture box, a removable box-within-a-box assembly. After using, one manually empties the dirt capture box by either changing the plastic bag or by dumping out the inner box. If necessary, one may also clean the filter on the inside bottom of the outer box.
